Gym Etiquette & things that piss you off
« on: October 10, 2011, 10:20:56 AM »
As the title suggests, and cause Maradona was all  :'( that no one was using this forum, I thought i'd start a thread about all the things in a gym that piss you off. I'll kick it off

- Using the squat rack to curl
- Using the squat rack to bench
- Camping on any peice of equipment. Lifting your tiny weight once, then sitting and talking to your mates for 5 minutes when other want to use that bench, dumbell, rack etc is fucking annoying.  :fu:
- Spazzing. I've seen some random shit in gyms. Guys doing curls by throwing their arms as far back to get a 'running' start. Or throwing their back into the lift to help out.
- Young high school blokes, with their mates, trying to lift the same as me, but getting thei 3 mates to spot them, and having them basically all lift what i'm doing without a spot. EG, 90kg bench, but the 3 spotters are working harder than the guy actually lifting.
- Watching the same guy try to leg press 200kg after i've just finished, and he can't even move the sled off the locks.
    - made up for it when the bloke shit himself :)
- Showing up to the gym with a fucking cold/flu. I don't want to catch your fucking illness. Go home ya prick :fu:

The person who stands between you and the mirror when you are using it to check your form whilst performing an exercise...

found a new one today, asking for a spot then going off the rails when i grab the bar just before you drop it on yourself. Mate you could barely lift 40kgs, no way where you going to survive lifting 50kgs....

When someone feels it is important to start a conversation as you are in the middle of a lift.

When your kids (3x all under 6yo) come down to the shed to whinge while you are trying to squat 200kg plus.
They always stand under the bar? Its great to listen, but not when you are half way through a rep.

Amen. My kids are old enough now to know not to do that on pain of death. I remember my Mrs adult cousin once coming down in the middle of a squat set and trying to start a conversation - from a child you can understand but from an adult that is stupidity...
Never argue with an idiot. They bring you down to their level and then beat you with experience.

I ignored her until I was finished but it messed with my intensity, and I think the look I gave her when I racked the bar spoke volumes without me having to say a word...
