Back loading carbs
« on: March 21, 2011, 12:16:07 AM »
Any one got any experience with back loading carbs? That is not eating any carbs until after you have trained. So in my case I would be carb free from waking until 6 pm at night then eating carbs until bed. Its meant to help lean you up. Sounds a little backwards to anything I have ever been told though?

Well my sponser has me 'carb loading'. In that i load up with carbs all day Monday, lift like hell, the bodies metabolism goes into overdrive to burn off the sudden influx of carbs and then continues to burn fat afterwards.

But then i also do the 'fasted cardio' where you fast yourself of carbs- or at least get an empty stomach, then do a serious HIIT and cardio. This burns lots of fat.

Your system seems similar but you didn't actually mention exercise.

Oh well maybe he is really my adviser. I am an amateur BB after leaving Muay Thai. He reckons that on the first day of every weights week (mon) carb up to the max, the system goes into over drive a burns off more fat than ever... so far i don't actually gain weight from carb mondays.

Doesn't really seem to be doing anything for me so far. Weight hasn't moved. All it does is make me feel hungry and tired.

What really resonated with me with Taubes stuff. Carbohydrates affect different people differently.

I mean we all respond differently to the things we eat, what would make carbs different?

Yeh i agree we are all different. I, for instance, can eat a liter of full cream ice cream at night and it will not affect my weight the next morning - but a bar of chocolate or cheescake is different - given that if i ate only small amounts of choc or cheesecake. But then woolies sells them in family size and i can't leave it in the fridge. bloomin chocoholics
